Despite a pandemic, home sales in Santa Cruz County have surged over the last year and a half. Our strong housing market in terms of sales and price this year is encouraging for sellers who are experiencing high amounts of buyer demand and record high purchase prices. Interest rates remain at historic lows and remember that for every 1% decrease in rate, there is an 11% increase in purchasing power! Because of these low rates, buyers are able to qualify for and afford higher priced homes because the monthly payment decreases with each percentage point.
